Supported by funds from UJC/Federations, JDC and the Israeli government have created the "120 Strong" program, which sends 180 case workers to provide daily outreach to the 25,000 elderly residents in Southern Israel. The program is based on JDC's Supportive Communities model, which provides elderly residents with a 'Community Parent' to help with critical tasks and give them personal attention. Ninety-five percent of Supportive Communities program participants claim that these visits give them the strength to carry on in difficult times.
